Christ's Last days: Wednesday

"Then one of the Twelve-the one called Judas Iscariot-went to the chief priests and asked, 'What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?' So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand Him over."
Matthew 26:14-16

We all know the name Judas don't we? He sold our Savior for 30 pieces of silver. Thirty silver coins was equivalent to 120 denarii; one denarius was what laborers were paid for one days work. They worked six day a week, versus our five day work week so this was roughly 20 weeks or five months worth of pay. Figure up what you make in a year and divide it by 2 and it will be a little more than what Judas was given to betray Jesus. This is a lot of money! Its amazing what people will do for money isn't it?

It's easy to point the finger at Judas, but are we really any different? Our society tells us to work more, work harder, to "keep up with the Jones's". It tells us we need newer, bigger, better than what we already have. We end up spending time away from our family, time spent in the Word, time spend with our spouse, all so we can buy that new house, go on that vacation, so we can-you fill in the blank. If we keep that focus, will we ever really be satisfied? Jesus said,

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
(Matthew 6:19-21)

What do you treasure? What do you hold dearest to your heart? Don't be like Judas, focused on the things of this world. Go against the grain and stand up! Stand up for your family, for your children, for your values and for your God! We don't know how much time we have left in this world. Keep the main thing, the main thing in your life. Stay focused and don't allow the enemy to distract you with the temporary things in this world. All it would take is one tornado, one flood, one fire, one etc. and all those things would be gone ~forever. What will your focus be today?
